And you can finally save your scene files, something you couldnt do with 2.0 iirc, of course you cant export or use the real Softimage with scenes you made in EXP. You get some tutorial scene files with 3.0 though, as well as a couple of PDF tutorials on the site.
I guess they wanted to compete (in fact check out the comparison chart) with Maya PLE since the 2.0 version of EXP was availible only through mail order while Maya PLE could be downloaded. Dont know why they no longer offer the free version like with 2.0. I guess the $15 version has the full documentation (the 2.0 does), and on cd 2 some nice hires movie tutorials. No real difference from the 2.0 EXP version, same watermarks (barely visible unless you have a model with dark lighting, then you can see the faint watermarks in the viewport). I installed earlier tonight and it works great. 3.0 is now out, and its downloadable as a 150mb installer, though they're selling it for $15 for the 2 CD version. The software has amazing quality results which include 3D images editing. The software has several features that allow the user to manipulate images and create a new one from scratch through digital art.
